Job posting: Transportation reporter
The Washington Post is looking for a reporter who can cover all aspects of transportation – national and regional. We are looking for a smart, enterprising self-starter who can help us chronicle how the rapid changes in transportation are changing the way we live. This reporter also will be called on to cover plane crashes, safety issues with the local Metro system, the debate over how to pay to fix our crumbling roads, bridges and other infrastructure and all other aspects of getting from here to there.
We are looking for someone who can deliver scoops from inside the federal transportation agencies, react quickly to breaking news and provide smart analysis and enterprise about transportation trends here, around the country and the world. A strong social media presence and a plan to grow digital audience are essential.
This reporter will work closely with our other national transportation writers and also serve as a backup reporter covering our local subway system. This position is based in our Washington newsroom and is not eligible for remote work.
If you are interested, please send a cover letter explaining how you would help The Post’s transportation coverage, three telling clips (attached as PDFs) and a resume to Victoria Benning (victoria.benning@washpost.com), Monica Norton (monica.norton@washpost.com), Carla Broyles (carla.broyles@washpost.com) and Tracy Grant (tracy.grant@washpost.com) by April 5.
